Cassowary Coast Graziers Association, an Unincorporated Association, was born as an entity to advocate for CCRC Graziers large and small to address the crippling rates inequity for local Graziers when benchmarked against other CCRC rate payer categories, neighboring Local Government Areas (LGA’s) and LGA’s along the entire East Coast of QLD.
Members will have the opportunity to provide their input, receive updates and help create a strength of numbers to maximize the chance of achieving an equitable outcome. All CCRC Graziers large and small, as well as other industry stakeholders with a genuine interest in securing a prosperous Grazing sector are encouraged to become members. Membership is free and a member maybe as active or passive as they wish.
It needs to be noted that in comparison to other QLD LGAs all CCRC Primary Producers pay high rates. So while out of necessity the Associations focus is on Graziers and comparisons will be made to CCRC Cane Growers, as they are the predominant rural activity in our Council, the association supports fair rates for all CCRC primary producers.
As the Association matures it may provide a platform to share best practice and address other issues, current or future, some that maybe unique to our area and high rainfall environment.
An “establishment” committee of local Graziers is in place in order to get to the Cassowary Coast Graziers Association running. Once the association is established members will be given an opportunity to apply to be on the committee, with committee members to be elected by a member ballot.
